FAQ
We tend to call ourselves a weekly pickup game or beer league water polo club, although we don’t drink while we play. We’re here to scrimmage and have fun.
Yes it does. For members, there is a quarterly fee, but we also offer a drop-in fee.
Member dues are $60 a quarter (every 3 months). $10 to drop-in.
Fees contribute mainly to pool time. They also occasionally cover equipment (caps, balls, etc.) and tournament expenses, like the team entry fee.
Anyone over the age of 18 years old can play. We currently have a wide range of ages that play, from 18 to 60+. Most of us played in highschool and/or college, with a wide range of skill levels.
We generally require some water polo experience as we are not an instructional club. Exceptions might be allowed for strong competitive swimmers.
No you don’t have to try out, however we typically suggest a drop-in trial for anyone unsure about their skill level.
Tournaments typically come up every other month or so. They are not required and only for those who want to participate.
We mostly attend tournaments in Michigan and the nearby Midwest, however we sometimes travel across the out U.S. and internationally. Most of these tournaments are for masters teams like ourselves and happen over the course of a weekend.
Currently, we get together every Tuesday at Groves High School. We typically warm-up for the first half hour, then scrimmage for the remaining hour.
Yes, this is required by terms of our pool rental. You must have an American Water Polo membership. This includes player medical insurance in the event of injury.
Yes we do and it can be found here.
